Ukraine Legal & Compliance Manager will serve as Legal and Compliance Officer for Ukraine in a key leadership role. You will be part of Ukraine Management interacting with the General Manager, functional managers and lawyers in Business Area Near East. You will also be a member of Business Area Near East Legal Group.
Your daily work will be based at Kiev, Ukraine, but you will be working closely with colleagues across the Business Area Near East region headquartered in Istanbul, Turkey.
You will be responsible for driving the continued development of legal and compliance, ensuring the implementation of the global and International Operations policies, effective communication and high quality advice and risk management in Ukraine.

The position
As Ukraine Legal & Compliance Manager you will have the following objectives:

  • Devise, implement and continually refine Ukraine Legal and Compliance strategy and with continued improvement of business processes in Ukraine both internally and externally

  • Responsible for all legal and compliance matters arising in and out of Ukraine

  • Ensure alignment on legal & compliance matters with Business Area Near East

  • Continuous follow-up on latest court decisions in Ukraine and sharing within respective functions in Affiliate, Business Area Near East, Region International Operations and Novo Nordisk A/S

  • Overall responsibility for providing legal advice to Ukraine as well as legal support to Ukraine Management Team

  • Participation as Ukraine representative at Business Area Near East Legal Group meetings

  • Follow-up on potential findings of Group Internal Audit reports

  • Spot checks on critical legal issues, identify legal trends and new developments in the legal environment and prepare the organization beforehand

  • Training and education of employees in order to improve overall Compliance.

  • Ensure implementation of all requirements regarding Corporate Governance and anti-trust regulations in Ukraine

Law Degree, admission to the applicable legal bar/ law society.  Ph.D. in Law or LL.M. degree or equivalent is desirable.
Experienced and qualified lawyer with a minimum of 6+ years of legal experience, preferably in the chemical, pharmaceutical or life sciences industry. To have long-time on the job experience in tier-one law firm and managerial experience are plus.
Extensive knowledge of pharmaceutical regulation and business transactions in Ukraine and experience of litigation and dispute resolution (courtroom experience desired).
In-depth experience with business ethics and compliance in pharmaceutical or medical device industry (including codes of conduct, FCPA and UK Anti-bribery Act).
You need to have excellent communication skills and ability to present complex information in an easily comprehensible format to senior management and external stakeholders. Also you will need to have high ability to set direction, prioritise and plan work while delivering on deadlines.
It is very important to have cross-cultural exposure from living, traveling or working in emerging markets. Fluency in written and spoken English is mandatory. Last but not least, you need to be open to travel within Ukraine and Business Area Near East.
